I'm sure I'm not alone in dreading the trips to put the rubbish out and bracing myself for that horrible pong that greets us everytime we open the wheelie bin - Eurrghh! Not nice!
Well, I happened to notice a team of guys in the back street recently who seemed to be tackling this problem head on.
I asked them about their services and was delighted to find out that this service is avavilable to anyone locally, they're based in Ryton, Gateshead.
Even more astonishing, to find out that they don't just clean your wheelie bin every month, they clean it inside AND out, sanitise it AND remove all those horrible awkward sticky labels that keep appearing on the bin lids!!
And all this for an incredible £3.00 per month!
They also offer concessions for senior citizens, who only pay £2.00 per month, and also do family bins for only £3.50 per month!
Now, to me, this is an incredible bargain and well worth it - I personally have donned protective clothing and rubber gloves and have tried, in vain, to disinfect my wheelie bin and after using several bottles of bleach was disheartened to find it made virtually no difference.
Not great.
But when you consider that these professional guys can take that awful job off your hands, leave you with a clean and fresh smelling, sanitised wheelie bin for only £3.00 per month - you can't beat that can you?
Ged Knowles, who owns Powerfresh Systematics (est.1999) offers a friendly and efficient service with locally employed personnel and will tackle household bins, recycling bins and gardening bins all for the same great, low price.
I was also impressed to read that Ged also offers a 6-monthly or annual payment plan for his services too.
Prices are as follows:
6 Monthly payments - £18.00, £12.00 for Senior Citizens, family bins £19.00
Annual payments - £36.00, £24.00 for senior citizens, family bins £38.00 per year.
This gives you added flexibility and you can pay by cash or cheque (made payable to Ged Knowles), and means you don't have to worry about missing the guys when you've just popped out.
Another thought, if you have an elderly relative or friend, why not get this service for them?
With such affordable prices, it's a service we can all afford, even in these hard times - a true credit-crunch beater!
With such affordable prices, it's a service we can all afford, even in these hard times - a true credit-crunch beater!
And let's face it, no-one appreciates that horrible smell that comes from the bins any time of year, and despite all the latest bin liners, bin bags etc, it still doesn't seem to have an impact on the state of the bin or the smell!
So I've signed up with Ged and his team, and look forward to having a nice clean, fresh-smelling wheelie bin by the back gate now instead of hurrying past it every time I go out!
Some might say, it's no big deal and it doesn't really matter, but think about it - MUCH cheaper than bottles of bleach, MUCH better for you than breathing in bleach fumes and trying to clean the bin yourself and MUCH better for the environment to not have to use bottles and bottles of bleach!
These guys take a horrible job off your hands for a very very affordable price, which give you more of your free time back too - now THAT'S worth £3.00 a month to me! :)

Thanks for the info. I use both a wheelie bin cleaning company once a month and Binifresh. The wheelie bin cleaners give it a thorough once over, and Binifresh stops the smell and kills the bacteria 24/7. Its a great combo. I got mine at ASDA.
ReplyDeleteSorry, i didn't explain what Binifresh is. It is an automatic wheelie bin cleaner that attaches to the wheelie bin. Sprays the bin every few hours and you never take it off. No wheelie bin smell anymore!
